Urban Decay XX Vice LTD Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette (Swatches + Thoughts)

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to be at Urban Decay's store in Covent Garden for the launch of their two new palettes - The Vice XX Reloaded and Moondust palette. When I say 'lucky', I don't mean that I got an exclusive invite (not on that level yet hunny lol). What happened was I was at their store the day before ,saw their sign about it and immediately signed up, thanking my lucky stars that there were still spaces available.

I've been really fortunate lately to have gone to two events at Urban Decay, just two weeks ago I was there for their 20th Birthday Celebration. The thing is they only publicize events they have coming up in their store and I think it's mainly because their store can't accommodate large numbers of people in it. I don't travel to London that much but I think I might have to make myself go there a few times a month just so I don't miss out on events and soon they are opening a store at Kings Cross Station

I'll talk about and show pictures of the Moondust palette in a seperate post, but in the mean time let's check out their latest Vice palette ey

XX - 20 ,thus why they say it's the palette that's been in the making for 20 years and it's also because they turn 20 this year.

I really have no complains about their dual ended brush, the bristles are good quality. I used their brush to do to the swatches that you'll see below and used a brush cleaner inbetween swatches to get rid of the color. Some colors were harder to remove than others and I had to really put some muscle in removing the color. I was afraid the hairs would start shedding but they didn't so

Now let's get to the eyeshadows!

This palette has a mix of vintage, current and new colors. On their site, they state that there are three new shades in the palette but I'm not too sure which ones. Oil slick, Smog, and Mildew are colors I recognize from the Ammo palette, which is my first ever Urban Decay palette.

For the arm swatches I've done finger swatches (top) and brush swatches (bottom). For the brush swatches, some of the colors look wet and that's because of the brush cleaner. I blotted the brush with a tissue as much as I could but the brush wasn't completely dry. I alternated between UD's brush and Elf's brush to give more drying time, hence why some of the swatches look wider.

I'm going to do row by row, starting from the left side.

Left to right : Moonflower, Smog, 501, Suspend

Moonflower - Sheer but pigmented and velvety. Love this shade.

Smog - Beautiful shade and feels like velvet. I find it applies better when I use my fingers instead of a brush.

501 - I found this color powdery and I think it's a shade that would look and perform better with a primer. It surprisingly blends well with a brush.

Suspend - Smooth and velvety matte shade.

Left to right : UV-B, Misdemeanor, Shallow, Oil Slick
UV-B - Pretty shimmery shade that's not poor in pigmentation.

Misdemeanor - This shade is almost too sheer for me but it does have that velvet feel.

Shallow - Feels so smooth and velvety, no complains about the pigmentation

Oil Slick - This is an old shade from Urban Decay and I remember it from their Ammo palette. It feels abit gritty probably because of the silver specks in it, I personally don't really like this color because on its own it's not black enough for me. I can make it darker using a black gel liner as a base to intensify it but still, I'd like it if the pigment of the eyeshadow was great on its own.

Goldmine - Omg this shade is so beautiful and velvety.

Freakshow - Had a bit of fall out, also had that smooth velvety texture. It blends ok.

Laced - A matte shade that's great for the crease area. Great pigmentation and texture. Blends great too.

Roadstripe - I like how this shade is sort of iridescent, great pigmentation and texture.

Left to right : Twice Baked, Asphyxia, Hot Pants, Gash

Twice Baked - This shade has that gritty texture and it performs better when applied with a brush.

Asphyxia - A lot more sheer than I expected it to be.

Hot Pants - A pale shade that has great pigmentation

Gash - Love this shade. Velvety.

Left to right - Anonymous, Acid Rain, Mildew, Midnight Cowboy

Anonymous - Very smooth and velvety matte shade. Pigmentation is good.

Acid Rain - Sheer but not too sheer. Smooth and velvety texture.

Mildew - Recognize this shade from the Ammo palette. Super smooth, velvety and pigmented.

Midnight Cowboy - Really pretty shade, it has some silver flecks in it hence the gritty texture. Pigmentation is great.

I love this palette because I can experiment with different colors and also because they have matte shades like Suspend,Laced and Annonymous that are great for the crease area, as a base or highlight. I could totally just bring this palette with me when I'm travelling because of that. There are only a few shades that I feel were subpar but most of them are amazing shades with great pigmentation and texture . If you love bold bright colors or if you want to get a palette that allows you to experiment then I'd definitely recommend this palette.

Hope this post was helpful to you guys in someways, till the next post! X

I used Moonflower, Smog,Gash and Twice Baked on my eyes with a primer underneath.

On my lips I'm wearing Desert Suede by Dose of Colors
